Time for Tea

So…winter is here. This is the perfect time for tea.

I love tea. I mean, I really LOVE tea. I remember every time when we used to visit my grandma, first thing she did, was offering us tea. No matter if it was during winter time or on a hot summer day. I loved her tea. It was “grandma’s tea”. Even years after when I grew up and used to make myself tea in her house, it didn’t had the same taste… It’s kind of tradition in my family that we serve tea (with sweets) almost after every big family meal or holiday dinner.

Tea is the most common beverage in the all world, but no one is sure of its exact origins.

I’m very fascinated by all of thous tea parties. Victorian tea party, English afternoon tea, and of course the Tea party in Alice in wonderland.

Victorian tea parties

A Victorian Tea Party would be the most elegant of all. The Victorian era was a period of extravagant entertaining and everything was done lavishly. Afternoon tea was invented by Anna Duchess of Bedford (1783-1857), one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting. During this time, the noble classes ate large breakfasts, small lunches and late suppers. Every afternoon, Anna reportedly experienced what she referred to as a “sinking feeling,” so she requested that her servants bring her tea and petite-sized cakes to her boudoir. Many followed the Duchess’ lead, and thus the ritual of afternoon tea was birthed. In fact, a culture of sorts emerged around the tradition of drinking tea.

When you’re feeling sad & blue
And have no clue what to do
Sit down and have a cup of tea
And a hug or two or maybe three
Feel those troubles melt away
And start you on a better day.

(wouldn’t a tea party be lovely right now?)

P. S. Are you a tea person ? Which tea is you favorite ?   My favorite one is Jasmine or Earl Gray with fresh mint leaves.

…. I’m going to make a tea Now !!!

See You next time …. xoxo   Rachel
